Healdsburg Active 20 30 Club Awards HEF $4,000 for HES Enrichment Program

The Healdsburg Active 20-30 Club, #205 awarded the Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF) $4,000 for the Elementary School Enrichment Program at their December Officer Induction Ceremonies. The 20-30 Club raised these funds from their Annual Bottle Shots event which was held last August at Seghesio Winery.

Daniel Family Makes Challenge Grant to Support K-12 Music Program

Challenge Grant assist HHS Music ProgramsThe Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF) is in the process of raising $40,000 to support Music Education at the Healdsburg Unified School District. The Lipton Daniel Family's challenge grant provides a great opportunity to leverage this donation with community support, and ensure that music instruction is available for all of our students for the full school year. "Music is a vibrant part of our community, particularly with our jazz festival, and an important part of life," says Cindy Daniel. "Cultural literacy-which includes musical literacy, is part of a good education. It should be integrated into the core curriculum of academic programs everywhere and for everyone."

Brush Family Makes Matching Challenge Grant to Support the HHS Drama Department

Healdsburg High School Drama ClassThe Brush Family recently made a $3,000 challenge grant to the Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF) in support of the Healdsburg High School Drama Program. Jim and Nancy Brush are some of the original founders of the Healdsburg Education Foundation and support many other activities in the area. All three of their children have graduated from Healdsburg High School.

Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen 6th Annual Pigs and Pinot Event donates $15,000 to the Healdsburg Education Foundation for Music in the Schools

School Music Programs in HealdsburgCharlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen is donating $15,000 raised from the Sixth Annual Celebration of Pigs and Pinot to the Healdsburg Education Foundation to fund the Recycled Rhythm program, which provides all 250 3rd and 4th graders with beginning instruction in reading music, complex rhythm patterns, and exposure to a full spectrum of percussion instruments. “This year we chose to direct a portion of the proceeds from Pigs and Pinot to support the arts in Healdsburg’s public schools. So often the arts are passed over for other subjects, so we are proud to be able to bring more music instruction into the schools and impact so many local students through the Recycled Rhythm curriculum,” stated Lisa Palmer, wife to Chef Palmer, who advises on the direction of the philanthropic side of Pigs and Pinot.

During this challenging time, when wineries are balancing the fickleness of nature with the difficulties of an economic downturn, and schools are scrambling for resources, Topel Winery owners Mark and Donnis Topel have collaborated with their label artist Barbara Van Wollner and Healdsburg Education Fund to make a difference.

6Y is a new handcrafted organic wine that offers serious and delicious affordable wines that can be purchased in Healdsburg at Shelton’s Natural Foods and Big John’s Market. Van Wollner’s paintings can be viewed and purchased in local Healdsburg galleries.

"Ride With The Horse Stalker" Book ReadingsAuthor Robert Digitale Publishes New Book - Donates to HEF

The Healdsburg Education Foundation and local author/journalist Robert Digitale are teaming up for a booking signing and benefit Oct. 15 at Copperfield's Books in Petaluma.

Digitale, a longtime newspaper reporter in Santa Rosa, is releasing a new fantasy novel, Horse Stalker. The Foundation will receive $1 from every copy of the book sold at the store in September and October.

Healdsburg Center for the Arts Gifts $1,000 Grant to HEF for Music Education

Healdsburg Center for the Arts grants $1000 to HEFThanks to the Healdsburg Center for the Arts (HCA) for a $1,000 grant to the Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF) for the Recycled Rhythm class of the Healdsburg Elementary School Enrichment Program! The program teaches our students rhythm patterns, teamwork through band participation, and combines hands-on crafts as they build their own musical instruments. We are so lucky to have HCA’s strong support of the arts in our public schools!

HEF Receives Record-Setting Donation

Barbara Grasseschi and Tony CrabbThanks to a recent major gift of $89,000 plus a pledge of $30,000 in May - Tony Crabb and Barbara Grasseschi have made the largest single donation to support students through the Healdsburg Education Foundation. In keeping with the Crabb Grasseschi Family Foundation’s funding priorities - the funds will be used to support the science and technology related classes of the Healdsburg Elementary School Enrichment Program, contribute to the HEF Endowment Fund, support the Healdsburg High School Cisco Academy and the Construction and Sustainability Academy (CASA), and provide operating support for the Healdsburg Education Foundation.

Albertina L. Zanzi Living Trust Gifts $28,000 to HHS Arts & Library

Thanks to a generous gift from the Albertina L. Zanzi Living Trust, almost $28,000 in grants will benefit students at Healdsburg High School this academic year. The Healdsburg Education Foundation (HEF) reports that the funds have been directed to the Fine Arts Department, the Drama Department, the Music Program and the Henry and Holly Wendt Library at HHS.

This gift follows donations made a year ago by the Albertina L. Zanzi Living Trust, which were distributed among all the arts at Healdsburg High, the new Construction and Sustainability Academy (CASA) and the establishment of a new scholarship.
