HEF Supports the Enrichment ProgramThe Healdsburg Elementary School introduced a new Enrichment Program for 2009-2010 school year. The Enrichment Program provides all Healdsburg Elementary students from Kindergarten through 5th grade with in-class instruction in key subjects that provide the investigative, participatory and world view tools necessary for our students to be successful learners and community members. Sadly, these key subjects have been drastically cut from most school districts due to budget cuts and the need to focus on the core subjects of mathematics and language arts. HEF believes that investing in the HES Enrichment Program is a strong investment as it introduces our K-5 grade students to the problem solving and creative thinking skills necessary to be successful in our changing labor markets and world at large. Further, these courses provide an opportunity for our students to learn their core subjects in an applied manner - learning math through chess and Lego robotics, comprehending sentence structure through poetry and creative writing. The Healdsburg Education Foundation strongly supports the establishment of the HES Enrichment Program and has a pledge goal of $100,000 for this school year. We welcome you to contact us for a tour of this dynamic, new program and hope you will consider donating towards our pledge goal.
